COVID-19: Canada Responds
Ont. Premier on COVID-19 Vaccines, Lockdown Extension – February 19, 2021
In a news conference at Queen’s Park, Ontario Premier Doug Ford provides an update on the province's COVID-19 vaccination plan. He is joined by provincial Health Minister Christine Elliott, Ontario Solicitor General Sylvia Jones and retired General Rick Hillier, chair of Ontario’s COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force. The premier also discusses his government's decision to extend the stay-at-home orders and lockdown measures for Toronto, Peel Region and North Bay-Parry Sound for an additional two weeks until at least March 8. York Region will move out of lockdown and into the red level of the province's COVID-19 response framework on February 22 as scheduled. The medical officers of health for Toronto and Peel Region had both requested an extension of lockdown measures due to concerns about the spread of highly transmissible virus variants.
