COVID-19: Canada Responds
Alberta Health Minister Tyler Shandro holds a news conference in Calgary to announce a tentative agreement has been reached between his government and the province's doctors regarding physician contracts. He is joined by Dr. Paul Boucher, president of the Alberta Medical Association (AMA). The agreement comes after more than a year of negotiations. The provincial government implemented a new compensation framework for doctors on February 20, 2020. The health minister also responds to questions from reporters regarding Health Canada's approval of AstraZeneca's two COVID-19 vaccines, the rollout of vaccines in Alberta, and the easing of restrictions in the province. A decision on whether Alberta will move to the second phase of its reopening plan is expected to be made on March 1. (February 26, 2021) (no interpretation)
