COVID-19: Canada Responds
Nova Scotia Opening on June 30 to New Brunswick Travellers Without Restrictions
In Halifax, Iain Rankin, the premier of Nova Scotia, and Dr. Robert Strang, the province's chief medical officer of health, provide an update on the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) situation in the province. The premier announces that Nova Scotia is opening its border to people travelling from New Brunswick without restrictions starting June 30 at 8 a.m. That is the same previously announced date that residents from outside Atlantic Canada can come into Nova Scotia, with isolation requirements based on vaccination status and testing. Rankin and Dr. Strang also address the protests over isolation requirements that closed the border between Nova Scotia and New Brunswick for over 24 hours. The premier announced the new rules for travellers from New Brunswick on June 22, the eve of Nova Scotia reopening its border to the three other Atlantic provinces. The rules also applied to Nova Scotians returning from New Brunswick. The requirements were imposed due to New Brunswick's decision to reopen to all Canadian travellers without self-isolation requirements, provided they have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
