PM Trudeau Says Rail Blockades Must Come Down
At a news conference in Ottawa, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau discusses the government’s response to ongoing blockades of transportation facilities that have been mounted in solidarity with hereditary chiefs of the Wet’suwet’en Nation. The protests have brought a halt to passenger and freight rail traffic in a number of locations across Canada. While the prime minister insists that the federal government still welcomes discussion with Indigenous leaders, he says the barricades must now come down and that injunctions must be obeyed.
