Speaking with reporters in Ottawa via videoconference, International Development Minister Karina Gould discusses Canada’s provision of humanitarian assistance to Lebanon following the August 4, 2020, explosion at the port of Beirut. The minister announces that the federal government will match Canadians’ donations, up to a maximum of $2 million, to the Humanitarian Coalition and its members. She is joined by Denise Byrnes, the director of Oxfam-Québec, and Bill Chambers, the president and CEO of Save the Children Canada.
