Bloc Vows Non-Confidence Motion Unless Trudeau, Morneau, Telford Resign
Speaking with reporters on Parliament Hill, Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet announces that his party will introduce a non-confidence motion in the House of Commons in the fall unless Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Finance Minister Bill Morneau, and Katie Telford, the prime minister’s chief of staff, resign. The prime minister and finance minister have faced allegations of conflicts of interest in relation to the government's now-cancelled agreement with WE Charity. Meanwhile, it was recently reported that a firm that employs Telford’s spouse has received payments from the government for the administration of the federal commercial rent assistance program. The Prime Minister’s Office has stated that Telford has recused herself from any decisions that may involve the firm.
