Quebec Ministers Announce $3.9M Funding for New Police Model – June 14, 2021
At a news conference in Longueuil, Quebec Public Safety Minister Geneviève Guilbault announces a $3.9-million funding for the testing of a new police model within the Longueuil Police Service (SPAL). During a five-week internship, police officers will be deployed without guns or uniforms to intervene in certain situations involving vulnerable people. The minister is joined by Lionel Carmant, Quebec’s associate minister for health, Benoit Charette, the minister responsible for the fight against racism, as well as by SPAL Chief Fady Dagher.
