Diane Finley Resigns Her Seat, MPs Pay Tribute – May 11, 2021
Diane Finley makes a virtual point of order during House of Commons proceedings to officially tender her resignation as the MP for Haldimand-Norfolk, Ontario, effectively immediately. MPs Blake Richards (Conservative), Rob Oliphant (Liberal), Elizabeth May (Green), Claude DeBellefeuille (Bloc Québécois), and Anthony Rota (House speaker) pay tribute following her announcement. The longtime Conservative MP announced in August 2020 that she would be stepping down after 16 years in federal politics and would not run in the next federal election. She was first elected to the House of Commons in 2004 and held a number of cabinet positions under Stephen Harper's Conservative government.
