Special COVID-19 Committee: Report on the Crisis in Long-Term Care
Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic - May 27, 2020: MPs convene to debate the government’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic in a new hybrid meeting format. During the ‘Questions to Ministers’ period, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addresses the military report on the troubling conditions in some of Ontario’s long-term care homes, the Liberal Party’s use of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) program, and more. The House of Commons passed a government motion on May 26, 2020, with support from the Liberals, the New Democrats and the Greens, concerning the schedule for sittings during the ongoing pandemic. The meeting schedule for the Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic has been expanded from three to four days a week until June 17. The hybrid meeting format combines MPs in the chamber with others joining by video link.
