Special COVID-19 Committee: First Anniversary of MMIWG Report
Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic - June 3, 2020: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faces questions about the Canadian Infrastructure Bank and the Liberal party’s use of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) program. He is also asked about the government’s response to the recommendations of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) on the one-year anniversary of the inquiry's final report. The federal government has delayed the release of its action plan in response to the report. The House of Commons passed a government motion on May 26, 2020, with support from the Liberals, the New Democrats and the Greens, concerning the schedule for sittings during the ongoing pandemic. The meeting schedule for the Special Committee on the COVID-19 Pandemic has been expanded from three to four days a week until June 17. The hybrid meeting format combines MPs in the chamber with others joining by video link.
