Coronavirus Evacuations & Media Licensing – February 3, 2020

Foreign Affairs Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Health Minister Patty Hajdu host a news conference to update Canadians on the government’s plan to evacuate Canadians stuck in coronavirus-affected regions of China. Also appearing at the news conference are Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan, as well as Public Health Agency of Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam and Deputy Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Howard Njoo.

Heritage Minister Steven Guilbeault speaks to reporters to clarify his position on a report recommending greater powers be given to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) or another media licensing body.
