Ridings to Watch
South Shore–St. Margarets
CPAC’s Martin Stringer reports from the Nova Scotia riding of South Shore–St. Margarets, where the election was called the days after Hurricane Dorian smashed into communities along the seaside coast. Like many rural ridings across Canada, decaying infrastructure and lack of internet access are key issues and were heightened by the impact of the hurricane. Bernadette Jordan, the current minister of rural economic development, is the Liberal. Former executive with the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission Rick Perkins is the Conservative. Jessika Hepburn, a small business owner in Mahone Bay is the New Democrat and the Green candidate is Thomas Trappenberg.
