House of Commons Proceedings
The House of Commons is recalled to debate legislation aimed at implementing the federal government’s proposed wage subsidy for businesses affected by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. The proposed measure would reimburse up to 75 per cent of wages for eligible businesses, non-profits, and charities that have seen a decline in revenue of at least 30 per cent due to COVID-19 (employers with losses of at least 15 per cent in the month of March would also be eligible). Parliament has been suspended since March 13, 2020, over COVID-19 concerns, but the House sat on March 24 to debate Bill C-13, the government’s initial package of emergency economic measures.
