Uyghurs in China: MPs Discuss Committee Report – November 12, 2020
At a news conference on Parliament Hill, members of the House of Commons Subcommittee on International Human Rights discuss the findings of their study concerning the situation of Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims in the Xinjiang region of China. At the conclusion of their study, the committee members unanimously agreed that actions of the Chinese Communist Party in Xinjiang constitute genocide. The report reveals that over one million members of these communities are currently being detained by the authorities, and that women have been undergoing forced sterilization and abortion. The members of the sub-committee hope that the release of this report will embarrass the Chinese government enough to cease these actions. (no interpretation)
