COVID-19: Canada Responds
In St. John’s, Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, Newfoundland and Labrador’s chief medical officer of health, Andrew Furey, premier of N.L., and John Haggie, minister of health, provide an update on the province’s response to the ongoing COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) pandemic. They announce that visits in long term-care and retiring homes will be limited to essential care givers only, as the province records 50 new cases of COVID-19. Schools and non-essential business were closed the previous day amid an outbreak in St. John’s region, the largest one to hit the province since the beginning of the pandemic. (no interpretation)
