COVID-19: Canada Responds
At a virtual press conference, Mélanie Joly, the federal minister of economic development, and Pierre Fitzgibbon, Quebec’s minister of economy, announce the cancellation of the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal for a second straight year due to COVID-19 pandemic. They promise that the event will be back in 2022. Joly and Fitzgibbon are joined by provincial ministers Caroline Proulx (tourism) and Chantal Rouleau (responsible for the Montreal region), as well as by Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante and François Dumontier, the promoter of the Canadian Grand Prix.
