The fall 2022 Munk Debate moves the motion: Be it resolved, don't trust mainstream media. Douglas Murray, associate editor of The Spectator magazine, and Matt Taibbi, investigative journalist, are arguing for the motion. Speaking against the motion are New Yorker staff writer Malcolm Gladwell and New York Times columnist Michelle Goldberg. Taking place in Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto, the debate on the state of mainstream media and its impact on democracy is moderated by Rudyard Griffiths.
Spring 2022 Munk Debate: Russia–Ukraine War
The spring 2022 Munk Debate moves the motion: “Be it resolved, ending the world’s worst geopolitical crisis in a generation starts with acknowledging Russia’s security interests.” Stephen M. Walt, professor of international affairs at Harvard Kennedy School, and John J. Mearsheimer, professor of political science at the University of Chicago, are arguing for the motion. Speaking against the motion are Michael McFaul, Stanford University professor and columnist, and Radoslaw Sikorski, member of the European Parliament.
