Railway Blockades: A Plea for Dialogue – February 18, 2020
It's been nearly two weeks since blockades in support of the Wet'suwet'en hereditary chiefs first paralysed Canada's rail system. With no clear solution to the impasse in sight, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau continues to plead for more dialogue with the protesters. CPAC's Marc-André Cossette has the latest developments. Also on the show: Michel Leblanc, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, explains the economic impact of the crisis, while political scientists Daniel Béland (McGill University) and Geneviève Tellier (University of Ottawa) analyze the political fallout. Finally, MPs Arif Virani (Liberal), Richard Lehoux (Conservative), Sylvie Bérubé (Bloc Québécois) and Alexandre Boulerice (NPD) share their party's view on the crisis and the government's response.
