OPP Dismantles Barricade in Tyendinaga – February 24, 2020
The OPP has charged 10 people today after clearing the barricade in Tyendinaga, Ont., where Mohawk protesters have been blocking rail traffic for nearly three weeks. Meanwhile, the government also finds itself on the defensive with news that Teck Resources has pulled the plug on its Frontier oilsands mine project. CPAC's Marc-André Cossette has the latest. Also on the program: former Quebec minister of Aboriginal affairs, Geoff Kelley, shares his view on the Trudeau government's response to the rail blockade crisis, while political scientists Daniel Béland (McGill University) and Geneviève Tellier (University of Ottawa) on the consequences of the Teck Ressources project. Finally, MPs Joël Lightbound (Liberal), Luc Berthold (Conservative), Kristina Michaud (Bloc Québécois) and Peter Julian (NDP) share their party's views on the blockades and Teck's decision.
