Daughters of the Vote 2019 Delegates Take Their Seats in the House
Participants in the second edition of the Daughters of the Vote initiative take their seats in the House of Commons to hear addresses by former prime minister Kim Campbell, Green Party Leader Elizabeth May, Bloc Québécois MP and president Mario Beaulieu, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Conservative Leader Andrew Scheer, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Many of the delegates also make statements. The prime minister addresses the caucus expulsions of Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott during his speech, and takes questions from delegates. Each of the 338 young women represent a federal riding in Canada. The initiative is organized by Equal Voice Canada with the goal of inspiring young women to participate in politics. (April 3, 2019)

Ahead of the G7 Summit in Charlevoix, hundreds of youth gather in Toronto at the We Global Learning Centre to discuss gender and women's advancement, listen to inspiring speakers and panels, and make recommendations for G7 leaders. Sophie Grégoire Trudeau was a surprise guest and keynote speaker. She sits down with Roxanne Joyal, CEO of the Me to We Foundation. (May 9, 2018)
A Celebration of Indigenous Youth
Three Indigenous youth, Ashley Callingbull, Thomas Dymond and Tracie Léost, join Indspire's Roberta Jamieson to speak about the important role that education has played in their lives and what it means to empower Indigenous youth to be leaders and role models in their communities. The event is hosted by the Canadian Club Toronto. (April 5, 2018)
Celebrating National Child Day in the Senate
The Senate of Canada welcomes hundreds of students for a National Child Day celebration in the Senate chamber. The event features singing, improv comedy and gymnastics. Senators Yonah Martin, Terry Mercer, Raymonde Gagné and Jim Munson address their young guests. Blogger Hannah Alper also gives a speech on youth activism, while Children First Canada 2016-2017 youth ambassadors Hannah Ruuth and Sanaya Polobuto talk about the Canadian Children's Charter. It offers a wide range of programs like Junior Team Canada, the Regional Roundtable Series or the Parks Canada Youth Ambassador Program. Senator Lillian Dyck invited 100 high school students from the Ottawa area to the 10th annual Era 21 Networking Breakfast for Young Canadians. The event is an opportunity for youth to connect with community leaders and hear from dynamic young panelists. Puneet Birgi brings us some highlights from this year's breakfast.

On January 19th, the Sandbox Project held their inaugural annual conference in Mississauga, Ontario. This event brought together key players to address health issues facing Canadian children and youth, with a special focus in the areas of injury prevention, mental health, healthy weights and the environment. The introduction to the conference was delivered by veteran broadcaster Valerie Pringle. Dr. K. Kellie Leitch, Founder of the Sandbox Project, delivered an opening address.

On January 19th, the Sandbox Project held their inaugural annual conference in Mississauga, Ontario. This event brought together key players to address health issues facing Canadian children and youth, with a special focus in the areas of injury prevention, mental health, healthy weights and the environment. Dr. Judith Bossé, Associate Assistant Deputy Minister (Public Health Agency of Canada) examined key areas of concern in relation to the health of Canadian children and youth. Dr. Bossé also remarked on the current status of the health of children and youth in Canada.

Victor Garcia, chief technology officer for Hewlett Packard Canada, examined social media and its impact on children and teens in a speech titled "Social Media & Kids - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly".

This event brought together key players to address health issues facing Canadian children and youth, with a special focus in the areas of injury prevention, mental health, healthy weights and the environment. Dr. Alex Barron, Paediatric Emergency Physician (the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto), examined how the health of children and youth in Canada compares to other countries.
Bernard Lord
The Institut du Nouveau Monde holds the 5th edition of their summer school for youth, Quebec City, August 12–16, 2008. This conference brings together more than 1,000 youth from across Quebec and around the world. On August 14th, former New Brunswick premier Bernard Lord gives a speech entitled "The Francophonie in Canada: its Growth, Challenges and Successes."
Dr. K. Kellie Leitch (advisor, Healthy Children and Youth for Health Canada) addresses the Empire Club of Canada in Toronto, June 24, 2008. Dr. Leitch's speech examines child and youth health in Canada and touches on three main points: injury prevention, childhood obesity, and children and youth mental health. Dr. Leitch released a report in 2007 entitled "Reaching for the Top.” In her report, she makes recommendations on how Canada can become the best place to raise a child, from a health perspective.
Stephen Lewis
L'École d'été de l'Institut du Nouveau Monde held its fourth edition of a conference that brought together more than 800 youth from across Quebec and around the world, Montreal, August 22–25, 2007. Among the issues discussed were climate change, reasonable accommodations and the place of youth in the world. Stephen Lewis, the former UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, addressed the conference on August 23rd. In a speech entitled "Where in the World is the World Headed? A panoramic sweep of international affairs, globalization, conflict, poverty and disease,” Lewis spoke about the progress of achieving the U.N. Millennium Development Goals by 2015.

TVA journalist Michel Jean speaks at an annual conference entitled “Building the Future: Engaging Youth in the Political Process,” Montreal, Que., February 3, 2007. Mr. Jean discusses his international reporting experience, emphasizing the unique perspectives that reporters bring to each story based on their nationality. After speaking, Mr. Jean answers questions from audience members. Irois Léger (president and founder of Montreal.TV) makes opening remarks. The conference is organized by Force Jeunesse and by the Regroupement des jeunes chambres de commerce du Québec.

"Bâtissons l'avenir" - This session focused on The Generations Fund and fiscal imbalance. (Feb 3) On February 3, le groupe Force Jeunesse and the Regroupement des jeunes chambres de commerce du Québec held their annual conference entitled: "Bâtissons l'avenir". The conference explored topics such as public finance, the fiscal imbalance, international issues, changes in the youth job market and sustainable development. This session focused on The Generations Fund and fiscal imbalance.
